Since this network’s first emergence in 1995 it has been at the forefront of fighting for the right of beard. Prior to it's official naming there is evidence dating back to1992 that the founders began the early work of this network with a series of vigilantly facsimiles sent via 28.8 baud modems. From those early acts of telephonic harassment grew this network of the folliclly enhanced. Through the guidance of several visionary leaders this network began to publish a print magazine called BeardedMAN quarterly in 1996. It should have come as no surprise that the writings of one bearded man in particular would shape the future direction of this network. Calling himself the Great Bearded Man of the Cave the GBMC leveraged the success of his printed words to form the Cult of the Great Bearded Man of the Cave.
The Cult of the GBMC was officially founded in 1997 by those who followed the wisdom and will of the GBMC. After achieving much public notoriety including many dozens of international followers, and even some local newspaper coverage, the GBMC unexpectedly disavowed his leadership of this network and relocated his center of operations to an unspecified location in 2002. The followers of the GBMC have purportedly disbanded though it is more likely they have simply moved even farther into the sebaceous underground. As for the GBMC his connections to this network have been limited to the occasional posting, but as everyone is all too aware these are difficult times for cave dwelling bearded men everywhere.
After the departure of the GBMC this network lost its direction and languished in a state of misery exacerbated by the dot com goatee explosion.
In the fall of 2002 a mysterious and yet again Bearded MAN came forward with a new vision for this collaboration of pogonomainics. Operating under the assumed identity of "Mr. O" this mysterious figure has lead by way of mass indoctrination and subversive counteractive oration. Though no longer subterranean it is still believed that by uniting the collective powers of this network that ignorance can be eliminated and a new order of man begun.
Accordinly the focus of this website is undergoing a restructuring. As we hope move the actions of this network into the more publicly accepted channels for bringing about change...as publicly acceptable as we can be with beards this is.
